The
Meteor Ireland Music Awards, referred to as "The Meteors", are the national
music awards of Ireland. They have been held every year since 2001 and are promoted
by MCD Productions. The Meteors are the equivalent to the United Kingdom's BRIT
Awards, Canada's Juno Awards, and the Grammy Awards in the United States. The
awards take their name from their sponsors, Ireland's third most popular mobile
phone company, Meteor.
