Please help me to remember a name - it's driving me wild trying to dredge
it up.
She was a fairly minor British female vocalist of the mid to late fifties.
I don't think she had any big hits but was on TV quite a lot at one time. I believe
her first name was Rosemary but am not totally certain. I'm afraid I can't tell
you more than that. Can you help? I know it's not much to go on but I've trawled
through Internet lists and none of them mention her.
(IT IS NOT ROSEMARY SQUIRES)

I heard once on the radio (I was in Italy at the time) a
brilliant a cappella version of "Back in the USSR" - sounded like a

I have seen an old video of a pop music show from either
Australia or Great Britan where a great cover song of the Chiffons hit "I

find it again on Youtube, but to no avail. If you can help it would be much appriciated.

I am
desperately trying to track down the lyrics to a song I once knew by heart. Trouble
is I don't know who if anyone recorded it. I know the lyrics to the first verse
however so it might trigger someone's memory.
"I met her in Mars
port some three months ago
In a tavern called Astronauts Will
A woman
called Myrtle had spent all me dough
And I hadn't enough for the bill
So they sent round the bullies to example me
But me mates were there to defend
Coz though they be deck rats and scum of the void
They will stick with a
mate til the end
CHORUS
And it's Ki Li Riddi Ki whisky and rye
I'm locked in a rat hole with ten
I'm off to Venus to work in the mines
And I wont be a free man again".
it's such a brilliant song I'd
like to know where I could get the rest of the lyrics, please help if you can.

Hello,
I am trying to find a name and artist to a song. It's usually played during the
holidays on classic rock stations though it's not a Christmas song. The song is
sung by a male. In the video the male is singing and every so often there are
scenes of war footage. The song has an orchestra backing them and the instruments
play explosions in the song. I believe the song came out around the mid to late
80's. Can you help?
Is
it 19 by Paul Hardcastle. The title "19" comes from the documentary's
claim that the average age of an American combat soldier in the Vietnam War was
nineteen, as compared to the claim of World War II's 26. Thanks
Arnie

I
was wondering whether you have
any information on what happened to Melvyn
Gale (former cellist of
ELO), where is he know, what is he doing, are there
any contact details
in this world on him??
After producing and
performing on at least one solo album (1980 - " Gift Wrapped Set" Wilson,
Gale, and Co.) in the 80's he ended up auctioning off most his ELO memorobilia
and settling into "normal" life. Last known he was running a CD manufacturer
in London

Hi,
heard a song on radio and cannot find anything anywhere. Song about a father giving
advice to his son. Some of the words were... follow your call , follow your call,
you need to dance to a different drum son, be a man son, your not stupid, something
like that anyway.. was by , don somebody i think , late 70's hit. kinda country
sound.
Thanks appreciate your help.
The
song is called Follow your drum. The words and music were by John D Loudermilk
& it was sung by Don Fardon...It was a big hit for him in the 70's.

Hi, I hope you can
help. I am trying to find out who sang the vocals from the Film 'Summer of '42'.
The soundtrack of which was by Michel Legrand and if this piece of music is available.
I have only been able to loacte instrumentals but still no idea who sang on it.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thanx.
The film's soundtrack consists
partly of compositions by Michel Legrand, many of which are variants upon the
movie's theme "The Summer Knows", (the film also features the song "Hold
Tight" by The Andrews Sisters). The rest of the album is from another film.
But the Legrand's "The Summer Knows" has been recorded by several
artists including Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis and Nana Mouskouri.
Hope this helps.

I'd
like to know if Elvis' grand entry fanfare that I believe was played at his concerts

Can you help???

There was a group in the 1970s called The Sisters Love. They recorded for Motown
a song called Give Me your Love. I have been unable to find any lyrics for this
song although "and this is love " may be a line in the song. I'm afraid
this all I know.
The Sisters Love did a great, funky rendition of Give
Me Your Love, a cover of the original by Curtis Mayfield (on his Superfly
album). Sadly, Sisters Love never made an album, although they released some great
singles, which are now very rare.

There was a song in the 1970s with lyrics like, The time it is today for
young hearts to go their way
And part of the song just kept repeating
the word time! with drums in between each utterance of the word that
sounded like a ticking clock.
The track is "Time Has
Come Today" was a The Chamber Brothers No.1 (US)
hit
recorded and released in 1967. The group was formed in 1954 in Los Angeles, California
by the 4 four brothers from Mississippi. The Ramones, Angry Samoans, Willy DeVille
and American pop Idol .. Bo Bice have all covered this track.

The opening lines of this song
are "Sunrise, this is the last thing that I ever see. Out in the courtyard
they're waiting for me..." or something like that. I think this song was
sung by Tom Jones. Can someone please give more info.
It
is Tony Christie singing "I did What I Did For Maria" No.2 hit in 1971.
The song is about a widower who, on the eve of his execution, recalls how he avenged
his dead wife with no visible remorse, hence the title.

They started out as backing singers for Jimmy Sommerville's band, The Communards.

Bruce Springstein wrote 'Fire' in 1978/79. I recall that at some stage is was
sung by a female rock singer but do not know who. Can anyone assist.
Yes Bruce wrote this song, it was originally intended for Elvis Presley, but Robert
Gorden first recorded it in 1978, then later in 1978 The Pointer Sisters recorded
it and it reached #2 in the billboard charts in 1979. But
you may be thinking of Des'ree (Desiree Weeks) , she recorded it with Babyface
in 1998. Bruce Springsteen himself did not release his own recording of the song
until his 1986 Live/1975-85 album, which contains his (heavily edited, to eliminate
on-stage hijinks) 1978-12-16 performance.

Who sang the song "Again" in the 40's or 50's. It was a female singer
from Britain?
Vera Lynn was the UK singer who recorded
'Again' in late 1948, it was released by London Records as catalog number 310.
Funnily, in 1949 there were 7 renditions of this song in the billboard charts!!!!!
Versions by Vera Lynn, Vic Damone, Doris Day, Tommy Dorsey, Gordon Jenkins, Art
Mooney, and Mel Tormé. What a popular song!!

I wonder if anyone knows if there was a piano number,
I would guess it was played on the radio in the 60s, called The Last Dance? I

knocked it off, Herman's Hermits, with "I'm Henry VIII, I Am" August
7th 1965. ... In the UK it was at the top for only 2 weeks from Sept 9th 1965,
the Walker Brothers 'Make It Easy On Yourself' tumbled it on Sept
23rd 1965.

Anyone know which English artist(s) were the first to be number 1 in the Japan
charts ??
In Japan the music charts, are called The
Oricon aka Oricon Style, simular to The Billboard in America. Their first official
chart was produced in January of 1968 in those days they were called "Original
Confidence" they changed their name to Oricon in 1997.
There have only
been seven No.1 hits singles by, or featuring, a non-Japanese artist. The first
ever was actually an English artist, Daniel Boone with "Beautiful Sunday"
issued in Japan in 1976. Infact this is still the all-time best-selling single
in Japan by a non-Japanese artist.
THE FULL LIST OF
No.1 HIT SINGLES > BY or FEATURING <
A NON - JAPANESE ARTIST IN
"THE
ORICON SINGLES CHART"
1976: "Beautiful Sunday" by Daniel Boone

1980: "I'm in the Mood For Dancing" by The Nolans (Irish)
1983: "Flashdance... What a Feeling" by Irene Cara (US)
1995: "To
Love You More" by Celine Dion with Kryzler & Kompany (Canadian + Japanese)
1997: "La-La-La Love Song" by Toshinobu Kubota with Naomi Campbell (Japanese
+ US)
1997: "Candle in the Wind '97" by Elton John (UK)
2004:
"Mickey" by Gorie featuring Jasmine & Joann (Japanese + US)
*In 1967, before the Origon Charts started The Bee
Gee's are noted as being the first ever non- Japanese act to reach No. 1 in Japan
with "Massachusetts (The Lights Went Out In)".
*It
is also said by some, that Helen Shapiro topped a Japanese chart in the early
60's, but I cannot find any reference to this.

What chart topping song stopped the Rolling Stones #2 hit "Start Me Up"
from reaching #1 spot.
I presume you are from the US,
as 'Start Me Up' only reached #7 here in the UK. It charted when they re-released

August 1 - "Jessie's

August 8 - "Jessie's Girl" - Rick

the bassist, Tommy Guthrie was on drums and singer Mike Harper. They covered 2

"Do It Again A Little Bit Slower" and "I Want to Go Back There

My dad has a cassette with a female country-type singer singing three songs and
he would love to know who she is. I've managed to find out that the songs are
Night Rider's Lament, Little Things Mean A Lot, and Clifford T Ward's Lost
Again. She does some gentle yodelling in Night Rider's Lament. She has a beautiful
clear voice, she sounds fairly young, and I think the yodelling is just by the
by. There is a slight chance that she is Irish. Does anyone have a clue who she
may be? I've listened to Nanci Griffith, and it's definitely not her voice.
Who can solve this for my old dad?
it
could be Ann Breen, I know on one of early albums she definately sang 'Little
Things Mean A Lot' and 'Lost Again', but I cannot remember if she ever did Night
Rider's
Lament. She started recording in her early teens.

"Wherever I Lay My Hat" , we know Paul Young sung it but who sang the
original ~ Jean
It was the great
Marvin Gaye who first sung "Where Ever I Lay My Hat" in 1964.
(Marvin
Gaye co-wrote the song with Barrett Strong and Norman Whitfield).

type band covered Harvey Andrews' "Soldier" or recorded a song with
a simular story of a British soldeir who died saving the people who mocked and
hated him. Harley
Andrews' lyrics
This track or a very simular one, was recorded by a skinhead/punk
band
called "Angelic Upstarts" late 70's or early 80's

Please help me find a 70's soul/R&B song. The theme is a mid slow theme, and
begins with a
"guitar solo", after appears a male voice
very, very similar to Al Green voice but not identical.
The lyric say something
like this :- Fire, I want fire...,
fire,fire...
(the refrain is sung
by a mixt male and female chorus with a voices very similar to the group earth, wind
and fire falsetto and after this,
the lyric continues with a estrofa
similar like this : -
High to the sky

It´s possible that the chorus says : ... I´m
on fire ... (instead of : .. I want fire ...),
and ,
- ...Fly to the sky
... (instead of : ... High to the sky ...)
I don´t remember more words
of the theme, the main voice it´s a male voice very, very similar to the voice
of the vocalist of the Isley Brothers , it´s a 70´s soul/r&b theme
that begins with a guitar (followed of two saxos and a battery, according I could
appreciate) later appears the vocalist voice followed (two estrofas later) of
the chorus (mixt male/female) -falsseto voice-
that says something like this
:
- ... High to the sky (or, Fly to the sky ...) ....
- .... Fire,I want
fire ( or,I´m on fire),... (instr: saxos + battery)
-
Fire,fire!
I haven´t more information, Please could you help me ?

Is there a version of the song
"Man on Fire" by Lisa Gerrard without the remix with Hybrid? This haunting
song appears several times throughout the movie 'Man on Fire'.
No
references about this track's proper make-up anywhere. It is simular to the ending
of Gladiators .. Gregson-Williams may have used part of Lisa Gerrard's song "Now
We are Free" CLICK

could you help me track down a couple of early sixties songs. I don't know who
sang them . The first song is by a male singer from late fifties early sixties.
I am pretty sure the song is called "Mr. Rainbow Man" .One little bit
goes "let the sun shine Nell ( let the sun shine Nell ) Mr Rainbow Man. It's
a layback type song a bit of a Buddy Holly sound. the second song is by a female
singer or group from the early sixties and i think it 's called " No Never".
I would like to get a copy of both these songs so if you know anyone who may have
them could you let me know.
"Mr.
Rainbow Man"
- The Kampus Kids were a "sort of" Buddy Holly
tribute band.
On the below link you will see and can listen to "Leave Me Alone" by
The Kampus Kids .. that is the flip side to "Rainbow Man" so I am sure
the fellow Bob who runs the site will definately be able to help you. Also old
songs seem to be his speciality, he may know your other song too.

Quiet
a few years ago I saw a television show in celebration of either diana ross, berry
gordy or just a Celebration of Motown. During the show Kenny G came from the back
of the auditorium and walked onto the stage playing a single note. It was amazing.
I would like to see this performance again. Can you help. I would like to identify
the show and purchase a DVD
Kenny G is on the Motown 25; Yesterday-Today-Forever DVD, He is at the end where
Dick Clark introduces Clive Davis and then plays "Thats what friends are
for" as credits roll. So the actual live TV show he may have done his long
note, It could have been edited out of the video/dvd.

This
song is still being played, albeit sporadically, on "Oldies" stations
- it's about a mother who takes her only son, sits him down and gives him advice
about living - she tells him to be a Simple Kind of Man, and that appears to be
the chorus. Who sings it - and what are the rest of the lyrics?
The
song you are wanting is by the great US southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd , recorded
in 1973 ~ "Simple Man".
